French Fries and Friendships

Yesterday was a blast.  I met my friend, Agatha Christine, at Jims Place, the only restaurant in Elkton.  While we were waiting for our food, a friend from the past, Erica Kelly, came up to say hi.

She was excited that she’s found a new barn home for her horses, but thinks about Kobi and Sugar every week when she drives past our road.  We started talking and she said that if I was interested in showing Kobi this fall in Western Dressage, we could trailer together – don’t get excited…she’s the one with the trailer, not me!  She’d bring her other horse over, who doesn’t like being left behind, to keep Sugar company, so she won’t have a complete meltdown (see the blog from a few weeks ago).  This way she can show her new horse Gracie, and I can show Kobi.  It gives me a goal and even better, a goal with a deadline of this fall!

Perfection!  And all because of lunch:)

About Heather Hamel

Growing up with horses is a little girls dream come true. Heather’s dream in life was to be a horse trainer - how dreams change - sort of! She moved to the wonderfully historic town of St. Augustine, Florida and was a historic tour guide and a ghost story teller while putting herself through college to become a special education teacher. After graduating, she felt the pull of horses in her life again. That's when she met Kobi! She learned quickly that when you own horses you become a part time vet, part time nutritionist, and full time equestrian. She wouldn't change a thing! In addition to being completely obsessed with her herd, she still teaches and tutors students with learning disabilities, and more specifically, dyslexia.
