Ok…I don’t call Kobi ‘perfect’ too often, but this afternoon I have to say it. There were so many ways our outing could have gone wrong, but he didn’t take the easy way out!
When I went out in the pasture to catch him, with his halter slung over my arm, I felt he would definitely run from me – making me lunge him which isn’t anything either of us want to do! But no, he saw me heading for him and actually met me half way – what a good boy!
Then when I was grooming him, he sometimes pins his ears, getting nippy and snarky – again, he was amazing. I put furazone on his poor allergy-chewed legs and to thank me, he groomed me…without using his teeth:) He just rubbed his lip across my back as I babied him!
I figured that since he was being so sweet on the ground that he would be hell on wheels when I rode him…again, no! He did everything I asked almost the first time I asked it…what a great ride.
While we were cantering in beautiful circles, he was on the bit beautifully (Ashley would be proud) I caught sight of something white heading for us. Turning my head, I saw Cuzzin coming to play his favorite game: chase the horses.
Again, Kobi was perfect – he maintained his canter and allowed me to bring him down without flipping out by being chased by the dog…close call.
Not wanting to push my luck too far, we kept to trotting figure 8’s and he was spectacular!
What a way to end the work day. Life is great!
