At least it’s not a rejection

About a month ago I sent an article in to Equus Magazine for publication.  I picked Equus because they are the best horse health magazine around and I have so much respect for their publication.  I sent them the article on Jake’s battle with Canker.

I never heard back – not even a quick e-mail that they received my submission.  Nothing!

The other day I noticed received this e-mail:

Dear Heather,

Thank you for writing to EQUUS and submitting your story. Our editors will be happy to read it on a speculative basis. The reviewing process typically takes up to three months, but can be longer if we get an unexpected volume of submissions at the same time. Someone will get back to you with a decision.

Thank you!
Katie Frank
Assistant editor, EQUUS

While I know it’s a form letter, it’s not a rejection – maybe 2013 will be my year to get something published!

About Heather Hamel

Growing up with horses is a little girls dream come true. Heather’s dream in life was to be a horse trainer - how dreams change - sort of! She moved to the wonderfully historic town of St. Augustine, Florida and was a historic tour guide and a ghost story teller while putting herself through college to become a special education teacher. After graduating, she felt the pull of horses in her life again. That's when she met Kobi! She learned quickly that when you own horses you become a part time vet, part time nutritionist, and full time equestrian. She wouldn't change a thing! In addition to being completely obsessed with her herd, she still teaches and tutors students with learning disabilities, and more specifically, dyslexia.
