Uninvited Guest #3

After dinner tonight, I was watching TV when Les was walking past a window and happened to look out.  Here’s what happened.

Les – Oh, wow!  There’s a bobcat in the front yard!

Me – No, there’s not.

Les – No, really there is!

Me – Stop playing!

Les – Seriously…You HAVE to come over here and look.  QUICK!

I’ll be honest I figured our neighbor, Bob, was carrying a cat or something.  When I got to the window, Les pointed out the object of his excitement.  I was amazed.  I was looking at what I thought was a juvenile bobcat.  It was lanky and thin, but not overly so.  We were speechless as it made its way to the fence and ducked onto the conservation land behind us.

Les – Wow!  That’s so cool!

Me – Can it hurt the horses?

He says it can’t and the horses (even Kobi) didn’t pay it any attention – so if he’s not worried, I’ll just enjoy the rare bobcat sighting and not worry either!

Sorry there’s no picture of this one, he was gone before I could even think to take a picture!

About Heather Hamel

Growing up with horses is a little girls dream come true. Heather’s dream in life was to be a horse trainer - how dreams change - sort of! She moved to the wonderfully historic town of St. Augustine, Florida and was a historic tour guide and a ghost story teller while putting herself through college to become a special education teacher. After graduating, she felt the pull of horses in her life again. That's when she met Kobi! She learned quickly that when you own horses you become a part time vet, part time nutritionist, and full time equestrian. She wouldn't change a thing! In addition to being completely obsessed with her herd, she still teaches and tutors students with learning disabilities, and more specifically, dyslexia.
