We have a barn cat. Technically it’s a barn kitten right now, but I’m sure she’ll grow into her new job.
The plan is to let her grow up a little and then open up the door to the wild, wonderful world. That’s the plan. She is the friendliest kitten I have ever met. At first she was confined to the back porch, but after seeing and hearing us in the kitchen, the world’s friendliest kitten began scaling the window screens. No amount of water deterred her cat. I figured it would be easiest on my screens (and nerves) if we let the little fluff ball in the house.
Cuzzin has accepted her, most of the time. He’s getting older and likes his sleep and she startled him awake this morning, but aside from that he seems to enjoy sniffing and licking her. She actually became his comfort when the wind started blowing and Les and I weren’t in the house. When Les walked in, he found Cuzzin leaned up against her, taking comfort from her strength! Maybe the two of them will become the best of friends and not need us quite so much.
My only concern with her as a barn cat it Kobi. Cats scare him. I’m not sure what he sees when he spots one, maybe he sees their panther relatives, but one tiny kitten shouldn’t scare him too much, should it?
BTW – Sugar isn’t quite ready to perform just yet. Look for the video clip next weekend. In the meantime, enjoy a short video on our new Hep Cat (yes, I think that will be her name) and the music of Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats.
